CHEWY CHOCOLATE ORANGE COOKIES
This is an old recipe that I got from when my 3 sons did an art class where they would make cookies during the class and while they were baking in the oven the kids would paint, sculpt, and sing songs. So lovely…Anyway, these cookies became a family favorite and I love chocolate and orange together!
Makes 4 dozen cookies
1 ¾ cups flour
¼ teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 orange, zest
3 tablespoons orange juice (from your orange)
Preheat oven 350 degrees
In a bowl, combine your dry ingredients – flour, baking soda, and cocoa.
In a large mixing bowl, beat your butter then add sugar and brown sugar.
Add vanilla and egg, beat some more.
Add orange zest and orange juice and blend.
Gradually add your flour mixture blending all of it together.
Drop the batter in teaspoon size mounds about 2 inches apart onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
Bake approximately 8 minutes. You want them a little soft.
